Dr. Jeff Galak, Associate Professor of Marketing and Social and Decision Science at Carnegie Mellon University, has spent nearly 20 years studying the psychology of gift giving. He. has tried to understand what makes the best gifts for the most people. In doing so, many strategies have been developed that help ensure that when a giver decides to give someone a gift, they give one that puts a giant smile on their face…and not just when they unwrap the gift, but for the long run.
It is with this spirit, that we regularly post examples of great gifts that can be given and explain why, based on the science of gift giving, these suggestions make sense.
