Meet the CGO

Hi, I'm Jeff Galak, PhD, Chief Gift Officer and Co-Founder of GiftStar AI™. I have over 15 years of experience in studying the science and psychology of gift giving in order to understand what makes the perfect gift. As a Tenured Professor @ Carnegie Mellon University, I have spent my career studying what truly makes people happy, and gift giving is an amazing way to do just that.

My research on the science of gift giving has been featured in top consumer behavior and psychology academic publications like the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. I have been selected for Career Awards by the Society for Consumer Psychology and the Association for Consumer Research. Despite all that, my wife and children still think I’m a terrible gift giver, which is why I made GiftStar!
